Here are some great Hawaiian Escapes:
- Ohana Islander Waikiki ... Just steps to Waikiki Beach, the Ohana Islander features all
connecting rooms, and is great for families. It is centrally located near some of Waikiki’s best shopping. A 5-night package - which includes airfare from Miami on Delta Airlines and hotel - from $1,067.*
- Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel ... This exquisite hotel offers tradition, value and
loads of Hawaiian hospitality. It’s just steps away from the world famous Waikiki Beach, and spectacular surfing, outrigger canoe rides, snorkeling, swimming, diving and other beach activities. A 5-night package - Including airfare aboard Delta from Miami and hotel - from $1,087.*
- Sheraton Waikiki ... Centrally located on Waikiki Beach, this hotel is known for its
breathtaking Ocean Front views. The Sheraton Waikiki is one of Hawaii’s most popular hotels, and is located close to shopping, fine dining and entertainment. Its two impressive wings join a main tower for excellent views of the ocean, the city and the Koolau mountains beyond. A 5-night package - including airfare from Miami on Delta and hotel - from $1,403.•
- Aston Coral Reef Hotel ... the Aston Coral Reef Hotel offers affordable accommodations
located near the beach and in the center of all the fun in Waikiki, with the famous shopper’s paradise - International Marketplace - right next door. This is a good choice for the seasoned traveler, budget conscious vacationers, and families. High-speed Internet access is available in the lobby. A 5-night excursion - also from Miami on Delta and including hotel - from $1,011.*
Since Hawaii is one of the world’s great tropical paradises, beaches are central to any escape. Here’s the Travelers Advantage Top 10 Hawaii Beaches:
- Anaehoomalu Bay, Waikoloa Beach, Big Island ...Located adjacent to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott (formerly Outrigger Waikoloa Beach) on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast, the beach area features beautifully landscaped walking paths past ancient Hawaiian fishponds to a golden sand beach fringed by swaying palm trees.
- Punaluu Black Sand Beach, Kau District, Big Island ...This black sand beach is also a sanctuary for green sea turtles. You will often see them sunning in the sand. The beach offers some of the only safe snorkeling and swimming on the south coast. Use caution, however, the waves here are unpredictable, and there often is a bad riptide.
- Lumahai Beach, North Shore, Kauai ...This famous beach is where much of the blockbuster motion picture "South Pacific" was filmed. The path down to the beach is not easy to find and the walk down can be a bit slippery, but the views of the beach and waves crashing against the nearby rocks are exceptional.
- Salt Pond Beach Park, Hanapepe, Kauai ... This is a great beach for family gatherings, with lots of pavilions for eating and plenty of space on the beach for games. The water is relatively calm and the sun bright and warm. During the summer, you can still see Hawaiians making salt by pumping seawater into containers and allowing it to evaporate in the sun. It's the only natural salt pond in Hawaii still in use today.
- Shipwreck Beach, Lanai ...While many would choose Hulopoe Bay as their pick for best beach on Lanai, Shipwreck Beach is far more interesting. Not a swimming beach, Shipwreck is made up of boulders, lava rock, washed-up timber and sand. Shipwreck offers spectacular views of nearby Molokai, Maui and the abandoned hull of a World War II Liberty Ship.
- Kaanapali Beach, West Maui ... Located in West Maui just north of Lahaina, Kaanapali is one of Hawaii’s most famous and popular beaches. Bordered by numerous elegant resort hotels, this lifeguard-protected beach is almost three miles long. Kaanapali is THE beach for activities. You can snorkel in the crystal clear water, windsurf, jet-ski, parasail, or kayak. Just remember not to leave your valuables on the beach while you swim.
- Wailea Beach, South Maui ... Wailea is located in South Maui, at the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Resorts. Wailea offers good swimming and snorkeling in calm waters, and bodysurfing on a shore break that is not as punishing as Wailea's other beaches. The sandy bottom remains shallow inshore, and drops off slowly to deeper water.
- Papohaku Beach, Molokai ...Located on the west coast of Molokai, Papohaku is one of the world’s longest beaches. It is not unusual to be able to see no one on the beach for miles. If you want a private, secluded and beautiful beach, Papohaku is for you.
- Waikiki Beaches, Southern Shore, Oahu ...The seven beaches of Waikiki make up what may be the most famous stretch of sand in the world. With over 4 million visitors a year, it can get crowded, but people-watching is half the fun. Waikiki is also the perfect place to surf, boogie board, canoe, kayak, or snorkel. Nearby Sans Souci Beach offers great swimming.
- Waimanalo Beach Park, Windward Oahu ...Maybe the most beautiful beach on Oahu. It is a major weekend gathering place for local families who hold picnics and barbecues in the shaded area near the beach. It's great for bodysurfing, boogie boarding and swimming. Waimanalo offers spectacular views of the coastal mountain ranges of Oahu and of Manana "Rabbit" Island.
